If this is a sub-committee meeting, what is the
name/function of the sub-committee in relationship to the larger Accreditation
Implementation Committee? Adequacy
& Effectiveness of Learning and Information Resources and Services

Each of these four
academic support units performs some type of assessment/evaluation of their
services and resources. Also, each
unit creates their own evaluation based on the services and resources
provided by that unit. However, there
is no consistency of the frequency in which these assessments are performed
per academic school year. The reason
for this is because the data collected from these assessments are primarily
used to analyze the services and resources of that particular academic unit
so it is up to the department chair to determine when and how often during
the year to deploy these assessments.
Also, the
reliability of the data being collected during these evaluations, in relation
to the overall campus, is unknown because the data is primarily used to
improve or change the services and resources of that particular academic
support unit. It is unclear whether
the data each academic support unit collected would be able to demonstrate adequacy
and effectiveness of that unit in relationship to the entire campus. The reason is because there are no
benchmarks or standardized indicators to do a comparison from year to year of
the services and resources offered by each academic support unit. There is also no mandatory annual report
generated by each academic unit describing the services and resources offered
during a particular school year for which administration can use for
strategic planning and budgeting. The
only data reported to administration is the data used by the department
chairs to support their annual budget request. What Needs to be
Done: 1. An official assessment/evaluation should be
created by each academic support unit that demonstrates what criteria will be
measured to indicate adequacy and/or effectiveness of services and
resources. This can be left to the
discretion of the academic support unit head. 2. Consistency and frequency of these
measurements need to be determined.
Should these assessments be done on a month-to-month basis, done at
the end of each semester, or deployed at the end of the academic school year? 3. A procedure needs to be implemented for each
academic support unit to generate an annual report (not to exceed 2 pages)
due at the end of the academic year to administration. This annual report will serve two
functions: a. To set benchmarks and performance indicators
for selected criteria in measuring the services and resources offered by that
academic support unit. b. To educate both administration and the entire campus on how these academic support units are performing. |
